Shiny Happy People

I first spied tassel earrings, as sported by Kate Pierson of the B-52s, in the video for R.E.M.'s Shiny Happy People.

In the interim since 1991, they've popped up on starlets aplenty, most notably Natalie Portman, wearing Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. at this year's Oscars.

The video for the track itself: supposedly, if unjustly, voted #1 'Wussiest Song of All Time', and #35 on a list of the '50 Worst Tracks Ever' (though I reckon their fairly unlistenable King of Comedy got off lightly).
